Starlings down by the shore on a summers evening in rich glowing colours that would brighten any living space with a joyous and positive energy.
Like all my paintings, this piece has been created with leaves collected from woodlands around Hampshire on warm evening walks. They are then painted and pressed straight onto the original painting for an imperfectly true portrayal of nature. This particular painting features the large wild daisies that were in bloom at the time it was created.
The gold leaf embellishment highlights the dreamy edges of the shore as well as the speckled feathers that starlings are so known for. Although they are usually seen in their thousands as one murmuration, I wanted to do a piece that showed their individual beauty.
Embellished by hand with gold leaf creating a contemporary feel. Signed in the bottom right corner.
